Larry Smith, Inc. was incorporated in 2011 in the State of Ohio. It is the final transition from Larry Smith Contractors, Inc. which was originally established in 1971. LSI originally started out as a plumbing company before diversifying into underground utilities and trenchless technologies. LSI still maintains plumbing licenses in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana and is in excellent standing with the local CMPA.
LSI has been the leading trenchless contractor in Cincinnati for over 20 years. LSI started into pipe bursting in 1996 and shortly thereafter horizontal directional drilling. We performed our own HDD work until 2011. Our equipment ranges from small mini excavators up to a 365 excavator, as well as both pneumatic and static bursting equipment. We are licensed and certified in both methods of pipe bursting. LSI has successfully completed projects in 15 states.
We specialize in large diameter pipes, deeper excavations and more difficult installations. In 2015/2016 we completed a 500 LF run of 78” hand tunnel with 42” Hobas pipe at 32’ deep in sand and water strata for SD #1. In 2011-2013, we installed over 5000 LF of 48” DIP at 32’ deep in sand strata with a water table at 15’ below surface for MSD. In 2010 the Cincinnati Enquirer featured an article, that named the top 10 contractors in both contracts and contract value from a time period of 2005 to 2010. We were #1 on quantity and #4 on value.
